The documents in this collection describe relationships between the USA and Peru during the Cold War. Examples of this are: "Both Prensa Latina and Agence France Press in Lima are operated by Communists and Pro Communists"; "Yugoslav ship is in Peru"; Memorands on the interest of the US military to receive approval for the transit of essential air transport traffic in Peru; as well as a letter from the Texas Petroleum Company to the deputy Foreign Minister for Inter -American affairs regarding a legal dispute between the Peruvian government and the company. Other records include: "Change of tax payment method for foreign mining companies in Peru" (January 1960) and "Peruvian 'rights' in the Antarctic" (May 1962).
