This database aims to make the importance of women in Hamburg's history easily accessible and carried into everyday life today. The focus is on deceased women who worked and/or lived in Hamburg and who left their mark. By no means only “prominent” women are presented – but also the work and life of the “little woman” on the street, who often worked in silence, for the family, the city, the party, art, for herself. In addition, places, institutions, clubs and topics that were and are of historical importance for women are also presented.
